What is Aikido?
Aikido is a modern Japanese Budo (martial way) based on traditional Japanese jujitsu and wooden weapons arts (sword and staff). Rather than fighting an attacker's strength directly, Aikido teaches that one can respond to an attack by redirecting it so that the attacker is thrown by the force of his or her own attack.
Our classes
The Children's Aikido classes at Holistic Fitness are developed for children who are between 7 and 12 years of age . In our classes, experienced students are taught to mentor newer ones. By mixing games with traditional martial arts instruction , learning aikido is fun and rewarding. Children are tested periodically, as they are ready for advancement, and are given children's ranks in our dojo. These ranks will be converted to adult ranks once the student reaches the age of 12-13, when they can join our aikido classes for adults.
Safety first
Children's Aikido classes are run on a safety first basis. As aikido is branded The "Peaceful" or "Nonviolent" Martial Art , the risk of getting hurt is minimal.
No competitions
In aikido there are no competitions. Everyone can develop according to their own abilities , noone is forced to go to competitions and return with a black eye. We all practice to be able to live in peace and harmony with others and not to destroy someone else. Are you sceptical? Come and see how it works!
