SportCombat is a Mixed Martial Art (MMA), which combines techniques and training drills from combat sports such as kickboxing, boxing, muay Thai, wrestling and Jiu Jitsu. In short it's a no nonsense way to finish a fight and an opponent quickly and efficiently. It's the future of martial arts today.

The benefits of SportCombat

SportCombat covers all ranges of unarmed combat - kicking, punching, clinching and grappling. This works the whole body, increasing strength, speed, power, endurance, flexibility and coordination, whilst developing fighting tactics and mindset. Techniques are performed against resisting opponents — nothing is left to theory, so students soon know what actually works for them (and what doesn't).

SportCombat techniques tend to involve simple rather than complex motor movements.

This means the basics of SportCombat are easily learned and can be performed under the stress of real combat. In addition, SportCombat is particularly beneficial to women.

Home office statistics show that when women are attacked they tend to be grabbed, dragged or pinned down — SportCombat teaches the ground fighting skills, reversals and escapes to counter such attacks.

The principles of SportCombat

SportCombat focuses on 'high percentage' techniques. These techniques have been identified through analysis of what has proven successful in limited rules/no holds barred fights. SportCombat uses conditioning drills that are specific to the body movements and chaotic nature of a fight. This allows students to develop the anaerobic fitness, intensity and body mechanics of a 'fighter' within a controlled environment. SportCombat students are not 'spoon fed', but rather provided with a framework to both enhance existing skills and to develop a style and tactics suited to them as an individual.

The philosophy of SportCombat

SportCombat aims to teach realistic and proven modern martial arts, whilst maintaining the discipline and focus of the traditional arts. A great emphasis is placed on teamwork, sharing knowledge and developing effective, yet safe training methods.
