Personal history
Born in Port Talbot, South Wales. BA [ Hons ] in Graphics from University of Wales Newport 1998.
Marital arts background
I studied Wado — Ryu Karate from 1981 for 15 years awarded 1st Dan Black Belt in 1990, by Sensi Ritchie Noblett 7th Dan, founder of the Welsh Bushi — Kai Karate Association. After relocation in 1999, started kickboxing in 2000, presented 1st Dan in 2003 and 2nd Dan Black Belt in 2005.
Qualifications
Karate Instructor & Referee [Welsh Karate Federation], Shadow Referee [Great Britain Martial Arts Association], 2nd degree black belt (kickboxing).
Likes
Teaching people with no training background, developing them into confident, co-coordinated and effective martial artists.
Dislikes
Lacklustre training, arrogance and politics within the martial arts community.
Favourite techniques
Back fist, reverse punch, rigid hand and multiple kicking techniques.
Achievements
Fought for Wales three times, Welsh Open Team member champion, numerous trophies from regional and national tournaments.
Hobbies:
A cinema devotee and an avid collector of classic and modern martial arts movies. An interest in music, photography, graphic and visual design.
Why holistic fitness
One of the main reasons why I started kickboxing, after having studied Karate for many years was the direction of non-traditional martial arts via adaptation.
